Beautiful intricate work~
Fashion week has flown across the pond to London, where designer Holly Fulton was one of the first to show her Spring 2013 collection.
Recently back from a trip to Socal, it was evident Fulton had a beachy feeling that she melded with bushels of English roses. There was also a distinct Art Deco via Miami element that adorned the girlish looks, but when done in super simple silhouettes (t-shirt dresses, swimwear) and paired with stripes, was quite successful.
Here’s the thing, most of this collection was not particularly my taste per se. There was a lot of pink and baby blue and soft yellow with roses upon roses piled on top every which way. It gave me a bit of a toothache in fact. However, that doesn’t mean it was bad; on the contrary, for this sort of thing I thought she did an outstanding job and showed a very well balanced, nicely merchandised collection. I’d have tweaked the styling slightly (some of those hats were just plain frumpy) but overall it was a rather good show. -RS (Images via Vogue.com)
it’s still only a work in progress right now, but here’s the beginnings of a page of a comic I’m working on!! Trying to emulate a more manga-like style in this one, thus the purely inked style rather than pencil and photography look I usually go for.
It’s only going to be an 8-page preview but I’m enjoying it so far~ though it is taking its tole on my drawing arm unfortunately. Too much cross-hatching I think.
